The opening to the Chris Moyles Show is quite laid back and quiet. The lyrics to the jingle tell you that it is a morning radio show, and therefore the music fits in nicely with this, as the laid back feel to the jingle makes it easy to listen to, as well as indicating that the show will not be to fast-paced and loud, and will gently ease you into the morning. This particular jingle is very long, and the lyrics are almost satirical, this highlights that the show will be light-hearted, aiming to make the listeners laugh, and that it is not a serious show. The jingle is a bit too long, as it is almost a minute and a half long, and the tune is repetitive and can get boring. Overall I feel this jingle is reasonably good at getting the point across as it highlights the unseriousness nature of the show, as well as showing the listeners that the early morning radio show will not be too loud.

Although not specifically a news show, the jingle for the Chris Moyles show shows how the jingle needs to fit in with the style of the radio show, and therefore my news jingle will need to be more serious rather than this which is far more light-hearted, as fits the style of the show.

This opening to the Scott Mills show is very high paced and gives the impression that this show will me more high paced in its content. The intro shows that the show will be playing popular music, aimed at people coming home from work. The opening to this show makes people sit up and take notice of it as it is so high paced. The opening here is far different to that of the Chris Moyles show, as this show attempts to aim to get listeners on their way home from work, the high tempo of this intro shows this as people are generally in a better mood having left work, and the listeners are more willing to listen to the fast paced radio show, as apposed to the morning show. This is a good intro to a radio show, as the listeners become interested, as well as appealing to those who are coming home after leaving work. In this instance, the jingle leads right into a song, making people listen straight away, even without an introduction from the presenter.

Similarly to the Chris Moyles show, this is not specifically as news broadcast, but it does offer insight as to how a jingle needs to ft in with the themes of the show. There is a news section within this show which maintains a similar dance music orientated beat, however it is a lower tempo than the opening jingle of the show. In order to fit in with my main task though, a similar jingle to the news section can be used. I like the idea of making the jingle reasonably funky so as to sound interesting and introduce the news broadcast.

The Zane Lowe Takeovers show is short, and get right to the point. The Sound FX show it to be a cool show, aimed at young people. The opening also gives infomation about the show, teling the listeners that special guests will be taking over the show. The short introduction to the show indicates that the show will be simple, and good music. This intro is good as it get straight to the point and tells the listeners what will be happening in the show in brief.

The simplicity and short length of the jingle is a good technique to use, as it get straight to the point, yet it still gives an introduction to the broadcast. This particular broadcast is not a news show of any form, however, it does offer some ideas about the codes and conventions of a jingle, and that a shorter jingle can sometimes be more effective as it keeps it brief and gets straight to the point of the show.

This is a news channel, and therefore is very helpful in understading the nature of a news broadcast. This show is very structured and has a serious tone, similar to something that I will need to create for my radio show. The serious tone of the radio channel tells listeners that the topics of discusion will therefore be serious and fact-based.

This show is similar to the one I would need to try and create. The show is very professional, and get important infomation to its listeners. The only thing I would like to change from this format would be the seriousness of it. Whilst my broadcast needs to be serious, I feel that this show is possibly too serious, particularly as I am looking to create a 5 minute local news bulletin. I therefore feel that a more listener-friendly style would be applicable for a local broadcast.

Channel 103

This is the local radio station in the island, and therefore exactly like the sort of news broadcast I would need to create. The jingle is short and reasonably light-hearted, whilst also being able to give the impression of a news show, with its Sound FX and instruments used for the jingle. The presenter here had a more laid back style compared to that of News24, given the local nature of the broadcast.

This radio show is the most similar to what I will attempt to create. A mixture of this broadcast with the News24 broadcast would be ideal, as this has the laid back local attitude, whilst News24 has the serious tone that the news requires.
